AIR apps on Android

AIR apps on Android

It’s only been a couple of weeks since the Adobe Air apps hit the Android marketplace, but already there are literally hundreds for AIR apps to choose from.

Before installing any of these applications, the Android-based hardware must first have the Adobe Air app installed. Some phones will come with this pre-installed (or will have it pre-installed after an OS upgrade), others require you first install it.

Smartphones supported (at time of writing) include: Motorola DROID 1/2/R2-D2, Google Nexus One, HTC Desire, HTC Incredible, HTC Evo, Samsung Galaxy Tab, and the Google G2.

As with the other mobile apps stores (apple for example), apps are listed by category and support user ratings. It’s very early days for mobile AIR apps, but with time I think we will see some big software developers jump on the bandwagon.

We hope to soon release some tutorials on building AIR app for the Android store. Any ideas are very welcome!
